My Sister, My Friend was founded on October 30, 2002 by Ms. Rameka T. Davis, educator. With the willing help and support of fellow sponsors: Ms. Tennille Blackmon, educator; Ms. Melissa Cottrell, educator; Mrs. Maria McClain, educator; and Ms. Kawanna Weatherly, former educator; My Sister, My Friend - G.R.O.W "Girls Reaching to become Outstanding Women" became a reality.

It is our vision that the ladies of My Sister, My Friend - "G.R.O.W" Girls Reaching to become Outstanding Women, will learn to appreciate their womanhood and celebrate their beauty and intelligence.

The members of My Sister, My Friend are given the opportunity to share common interests, build lasting relationships, participate in various service projects, and learn effective communication skills, as well as utilize their individual gifts and talents as future outstanding women.
